I never grew out of paper dolls, in fact they only grew more interesting. I began ripping through high fashion magazines, cutting out the most bizarre figure images and changing them in some way. For this image, I painted her face, added glasses, and cut her dress completely away, instead adding an image of the shadow of a tree on another page...the color was perfect. The background is gauche covered with crayon. The dark, austere background lent itself perfectly to the image of the moon on the following page, which
was also lifted from the shadow of the same tree, that I also used for the dress. I added crayon to accent the figure and the moon.
I've fallon deeply in like with FW acrylic inks and now use the white ink instead of the expensive white gel pens...although a few years ago you could not have persuaded me otherwise. What can I say, change is good.
Speaking of change, I have been going through a lot of it.
It all started when I fell while running to catch my bus. I spent a good deal of that day at Urgent care getting asphalt removed from my knees and hands and icing my very big shiner. I had fallen face first onto the parking lot, and it finally knocked some sense into me. I just can't continue doing everything.
I won't be blogging quite as much, I dissolved my journal group opting instead for a bigger, more metro centric journal group (that I don't run), I joined linked-in (and look me up if you belong), I'm looking at a web-site option...and I'm focusing on writing. I love the arts and use it in my journals, which I will continue to share, just not as often.
Does spring do this to you as well? I was doing so much, and then tried to add biking and hiking to this scenario...nope. Well, the black eye and skinned knees are almost gone and peace is in the valley...I can even see the moon from here. Have you gone through any big changes lately?
